I have come across to this documentary movie on youtube and I wanted to share with you so I decided to write a short article about Ansel Adams.
Ansel Adams is one of the most significant landscape photographers ever. He received a number of awards during his lifetime (1902-1984) and there have been a few awards named after him. He primarily used large-format cameras despite their size and setup...
Not long ago I submitted a picture for a Getty Images photo competition. It was simply to capture life in NZ. I submitted only one picture of Bethells beach. I was really stoked when I got to the final 20 with a "plain" landscape in this competition.
They announced 2 winners and the first would get invitation to become a contributor for Getty Images. I really wanted this more than the Canon 7D that...
There are basically two ways to shoot night skies - one with stars frozen (as you see it with your eyes) and the other one is when you capture the movement of Earth that leaves stars with trails. The latter is more "abstract" and I will talk about it later.
Today I will talk about the more realistic way. This method is the one to try if you want to capture the Milky Way (you can see my take on this...
Winter here in Auckland is not really the best season for taking landscape pictures - the days are too short and it is bit too wet for my liking. I was quite lucky when I decided to get up at 5am on Queen's birthday and go to shoot the sun rising over the Bethells beach (Te Henga) as I only had to wait about 5 minutes in my car for the rain to stop.
It turned out to be gorgeous morning with beautiful...
I have been invited to this private drag racing by Bruce, whom I would like to thank for. Bruce has got one awesome ride - Chevrolet Camaro 71 that has some 1000bhp! when he uses NOS. He took me on the racing strip and trust me, this was a ride of my life. 400 meters in some 9 seconds is very impressive!
All these pictures below were shot with 5D mark II and Sigma 24 1.8. Enjoy and leave some comments.

On the occasion of the 65th Cannes Film Festival, guys from Kolor and Gigapixel Tour "created" the largest photo of France. It is a 65 Gigapixel panoramic picture of the bay of Cannes and the old town.
To establish this record, over 6400 photos were taken from the tower of the Castre Museum in Cannes and then stitched together. As you can see in my Landscape Gallery, I am a fan of panoramic pictures,...
I have been wanting to take pictures of my friend Kuba for quite a long time. I knew he would be a perfect male model and these few sample pictures below proved me right - this kid could become a model, but I would still keep my day job:)
All pictures were taken in Auckland CBD, there is a lot of interesting locations and you will never get bored by shooting there.
Enjoy the pictures, any feedback...
FoCal is a lens automatic calibrator created by Reikan Technology Ltd that will help you achieve the most accurate focus on your Canon or Nikon cameras that allow lens micro calibration feature. I have come across to this software on one photography forum where Richard, the developer, was looking for some "Guinea pigs" to take part in the Beta run and help him with testing. I instantly knew that I wanted...
